Cross-sectional studies

Cross-sectional studies are a type of observational study in which data is collected from a group of individuals at a specific point in time.

These studies provide a snapshot of the current situation and are useful for analysing the state of a population or the prevalence of certain characteristics or diseases. In contrast to longitudinal studies, which collect data over a longer period of time, cross-sectional studies collect data once. They are cost-effective and can be carried out quickly, but cannot identify causal relationships or measure changes over time.
